ASIA KITCHEN: Mrs. Lau’s Easy Meals

Lotus Root Sauteed with Chinese Sausage

Lotus Root Sauteed with Chinese Sausage

Ingredients (serves 4-6):

a pair of Chinese Sausage cut into slice Medium size Lotus Root, cut into slice
2 Tsp Fish sauce
3 Garlic cloves, minced
1/2 Tsp sugar
1 1/2 Tsp cooking wine
1 Tsp cooking oil

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in large saucepan. Add garlic cook over moderately
    high heat until lightly browned. Add the Chinese sausage
    stirring about 5 minutes. Put aside. Remaining oil on the pan.

  2. Add sliced lotus root stirring over medium heat for 5 minutes
    until lightly brown. Add 1 Tsp cooking wine, and cook, stirring
    about 2 minutes. Add 2 Tsp fi sh sauce, stirring for 1 minute,
    and add 1/2 Tsp sugar simmer over medium heat for 2 minutes.
    add Chinese sausage cook for 1 minute and serve.

Mrs. Lau was born in Hong Kong.She moved to Orlando in 1997. Since she lives with her American son-in-law, she has to cook dishes that appeal to both Chinese and American tastes.
